5 Tips for Glowing Skin in The Winter

Winter is here...and it's taking a toll on our skin. Dryness, itchiness, redness, tightness - all are the symptoms of "winter skin". Read below for some great tips how to care for your beautiful skin in the winter months.

Exfoliate

Scrub, scrub, scrub! Exfoliating your skin is important all-year-round to be fair, but especially in the winter months, it's crucial that you do it regularly.
Taking off the layer of dead cells will reveal fresh new skin. Grab a gentle, natural exfoliator (artificial aromas can irritate the skin) and get scrubbing at least once a week. If you're looking for a gentle, yet effective exfoliating scrub - try Origins' Salt Scrub will leave your skin silky smooth and  smelling like spearmint and orange!

Don't forget the SPF

Did you know that UV rays can pierce through clouds? And windows? And your clothes! Don't ditch the SPF cream just because it seems gloomy outside. My favorite is the Mattifying Face Fluid by Vichy - it's a BB cream and SPF in one! It keeps your skin protected, minus the shine that regular SPF creams leave.

Hydrate

Staying hydrated is crucial, especially in the winter months when air conditioning and harsh conditions make the sin drier and more irritable than usual. For amazing skin, I swear by the Mixa Atopiance body lotion.
Speaking of hydration - don't forget to hydrate from the inside too!
Swell bottles are my favorite water bottles! I mean - look how pretty they are! That alone makes me excited about drinking more water! Besides - did you know you can personalize your bottle? So cool!

Get your sweat on

Yes, you heard right. Exercising can improve the overall appearance of your skin, making it tighter, smoother and healthier. How? Regular exercise improves blood circulation, which in turn brings oxygen and nutrients to your skin. Improved blood circulation helps the skin get enough amino acids and vitamin C to help build strong collagen and elastic tissue. And we all know collagen is the secret to supple, younger-looking skin. So grab your sneakers and go!

Feed your skin

Having a healthy and balanced diet is important for glowing skin, but did you know you can use those avocados not just in your salad, but on your face too? Here is a quick recipe for a super-hydrating face mask:
AVOCADO FACE MASK
Grab 1/2 ripe avocado, 2 tbsp hot water and 1/2 tsp honey. Mash the avocado with a fork; dissolve the honey in the hot water and then mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Apply on your face and let sit for 10 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water.

If you don't feel like whipping up your own concoction - opt for Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Cream instead.
